Compare OfferUp’s current local marketplace with RC House for buying and selling RC cars, aircraft, boats, parts, and services.
OfferUp is useful for nearby sellers, messages, and a meetup. Its current help page says nationwide shipping ended for new listings on September 23, 2025, with existing shipping listings ending afterward subject to in-progress exceptions. Recheck the live policy and listing before assuming an RC model can ship through OfferUp.
RC House supports U.S. shipping on eligible listings and local pickup. Use OfferUp when local inspection is worth the trip; use RC House when you need a shipped order, clear RC details, or a pickup record.
A local marketplace can be excellent for a large crawler, assembled aircraft, or club-clearout bundle that is expensive to pack. Inspect the actual model, transmitter, batteries, and spares before deciding whether the travel is justified. OfferUp says there is no commission on in-person transactions, which can matter for a simple meetup; add your own travel and time cost.
The tradeoff is arranging the conversation and handoff yourself. Confirm the exact model, included equipment, damage, test conditions, payment method, and remedy for a mismatch.
RC House listings can capture category, brand, condition, technical details, contents, photos, price, and delivery or pickup. Buyers can filter the catalog, save candidates into named lists, and post a wanted request with budget, condition, and a reference image. Saving organizes research and does not reserve stock or provide bulk checkout.
Each seller has a separate charge and order at checkout. Local pickup uses an order handoff code after the item is received and checked. Eligible issues can be reported for policy-based review. Services cover repair, electronics, paint, fabrication, setup, or building when a suitable listing exists.
Write OfferUp price plus travel, fuel, tax, replacement equipment, and repairs. Write RC House price plus shipping and tax shown at checkout, then compare condition and packing risk. RC House’s current seller fee is 10% of item or service subtotal plus $0.30 and applies to shipped and pickup orders; buyers pay no separate marketplace fee. Neither venue is universally cheaper.
Ask for the same evidence everywhere: exact version and part number, included items, close photos, recent tests, repair history, and unknowns.
